Hi
Just been trying to figure out what to do with regards to the engine for Striker, my current options are
a) go direct to Omex and buy a ready to run & tested engine complete with 600 ecu providing 150bhp,
b) buy a base zetec engine and build up using a raceline sump, alternator kit, add something like an alpha gold kit (fleabay sourced)
C) buy a base engine build up with raceline sump and alternator kit and run in standard form but with an omex ecu and loom
The 1st option would leave me stress free with nothing to do.
The 2nd with a more powerful setup but may require some tuning time at a webcon authorised dealer
The 3rd will leave me with the same setup as the 1st but requiring me to source parts, get the engine running with all the required parts and leave
me needing some rolling road time.
Views please.
Cheers Mike
You could buy a virgin bottom end off me and I could build you a sump for a good price. Add a ported head, throttle bodies and an ecu of your
choice...................
Hows your build coming along mike? Check your blog a few weeks back and it was a few months since the last update.
Slowly at the mo, moved house 2 months ago so have been spending all my time decorating, good news though decorating is nearly done for the time
being, and most importantly i now have a garage, so the striker has somewhere to live other than at my parents.
I must come and see your build, it is starting to come along quite nicely from what i have seen on the build post.
So if I did go my own route / Alpha gold kit or other what would I need?
Engine
Raceline or similar sump + Gasket
Alternator Kit
Starter
Throttle cable
Throttle Body + ECU Kit
Thanks
Mike
What intake method are you going with?
Not sure yet, at the moment it is either standard inlet system with Omex ECU as per the Raw demo car / original Ford build or a simple bolt on Weber Alpha Gold system upgrade giving me throttle bodies
I have thhe gold kit, but im half and half on wether I should have gone for the cheaper standard setup on AM management.
How much do the alpha gold kits go for 2nd hand? Not seen many for sale.
Your welcome to pop over and have a nose at time. I really need to get my driveshafts off to raw so I can get it on some wheels and rolling. AND get
them to sort out my bodywork. Doyou have yours yet?, if so what sort of finish does it have?
The ebay kit ended early, it was £900 and was the pro 4 gold kit removed from a westy.
I contacted webcon and a self programable pro version is due out in around 8 weeks, might be a good option and provide some flexibility.
I have seen omex also offer a TB kit as well, but there are few extra items that need to be purchased, like linkage, lambda sensor and an air filter
Meant to say, yes i do have my driveshafts, i have them fitted, quality is fine, no issues with mine.

shame tho as the programmable option sounds good, bet it will have a premium though!
I don't have any of the bodywork yet. I have seen them in the workshop and at shoes but I can't say I have looked the quality.
