Hi All

I am struggling to find a position to screw my oil temperature sender into on the block of my phase 1 toyota 4age engine.

I have removed the factory oil filter sandwich plate for the factory oil cooler, not that it had a hole for a sensor in the first place. However i do not really want a sandwich plate on there anyway!

I am going to be running a remote hose to the oil pressure gauge. I could put a T in this, however the oil in the line will remain stationary most of the time and would take a long time for the heat of the oil to flow through via convection etc.

What have others done on their 4age engines for oil temp pickup? Do not like the sound of the sump plug style gauges!!

I do have a sandwich plate.

As far as i understand its an oil to water exchange thing from a Sierra diesel. This helps keep my oil temps low and also has a temp sensor location.

Mind you ringing 30 laps around the track out of it still makes oil temps touch 120.

Sump plug adaptor

The factory sandwich plate has a thermostate to control the temp of the oil going to the factory oil cooler. This is a bypass oil cooelr system with surplus oil not needed for lubrication and of sufficient temperature going to the cooler and back to the sump.
