A friend is selling up the kit of parts he put together to build a kitcar having bought one already built. He has therefore what from his research is
all the parts needed to build up a zetec onto a type9 and put it into a kitcar. And I have a CVH engined westfield that im considering re-engining.
Only bind is I was planning on using a blacktop zetec.
So far I only have the inlet manifold (yay..) so another option would be to get on with it and just fit the silvertop, which was picked due to being
pre95 and hence cat-free for iva, although as my car is registered and pre-sva smoketest only, maybe not an issue.
Thoughts on a postcard!

Will fit fine, its a popular route to mate a blacktop to a type 9 using a silvertop (focus iirc) flywheel, early 1.8 mondeo clutch and a ct133 (capri) clutch bearing.
Excellent, thats what we wanted to here! I new that silvertop flywheels had been used on blacktops but didnt know if it was a straight swap or if
there was shimming/clutch implications within that.
I understand the flywheel is from a 1800 silvertop out of an escort.

I dont suppose the clutch im using with the CVH would work with the Zetec install? No point in saving it if there not the same, but if they are its
always worked well for me and feels stiff enough I expect its an up rated unit.

Nope the rwd cvh clutch is the same as a pinto clutch. Rwd and fwd clutches use different bolt hole patterns for the clutch to prevent mix up on the
build line.

As mentioned above a 1.8 flywheel with Mk1 Mondeo clutch and cct133 (Capri) release bearing.
This setup fits ALL zetecs right up to the last St170 with type 9 gearbox.
quote:Sounds good, although to add to the complication, I believe my car currently has a fwd cvh flywheel on it, mated to the type 9 with the ford aluminum bell housing. Or atleast, its the best reason anyones given me for why no starter motor I try will mesh properly.

If you fit a trigger wheel to the front pulley you should be able to use the CVH flywheel, clutch and release bearing.
I used a 1.8cvh fly and clutch kit on a Blacktop as I already had them.
