just aquired a raw striker chassi and loads of parts has anybody ever fitted a ford puma 1.7 vvc zetec se engine ??

was going down the 2.0 zetec engine route but i have a puma 1.7 vvc zetec se complete car

2.0 zetec 130 bhp ish

1.7 puma 125 bhp ish

oh and did i mention i have a puma lol

A few have fitted them to sylva j15's, and mojos. I'm in the process of fitting one to my j15...if you read the start of my blog you can find a fair amount of information on them........as far as I know great little engine, and very very light and compact...decent sump, and gear box ratios in the puma are a little closer than a fiesta.

Do a bit of searching on Zetec SE, and you should find the answers.
It is possible, wouldn't be as cheap as a Zetec E, since you need a bespoke bellhousing to connect to a Type9, and there isn't the proliferation of parts as with the E.
I'm building a tuned 1600 Zetec SE to put into my Stylus.

Yup, quite popular in the Hillclimb and Sprint community as the class split is 1.7L for the roadgoing kits, plus can be pursuaded to make a lot of power.

The special addition racing puma had 150 bhp so shouldnt be hard to tune.

Set of individual throttle bodies and you will have a cracking motor! Altetnative is the racing puma manifold.

1600 much cheaper and easier to tune and not VCT to worry about.

Yes , I've been running one for two years, very good, light, revvy, motor, it has got standard injection and type 9 box.
I built my own bellhousing using the front bit of the standard puma gearbox casing welded to the back bit of a v 6 alloy bellhousing, this works well, but as mentioned above, you can buy one from various sources.
I would reccomend it, the sump is a bit deeper, with that weird extra cover on the bottom, but you can make it poke out of the top a bit to allow for it.
It is a simple installation and apart from the bellhousing, it should'nt be any more expensive than a zetec E.

Interesting...my sump looks different to that one...also, did you use the standard ecu or an aftermarket one?.

I made the bellhousing, so I suppose its a 1off.
I used the standard ecu. I try to keep things as simple as possible.

Sorry I meant to add,- the pic is of the bottom of the bellhousing, it is the rear part of a v6 unit so it has a ribbed section, my sump has the extra cover on the bottom to give it a bit more capacity for the 1700.

Ahh...just had another look, I thought the bell housing was the sump..doh...yes, same as mine.
