Crossflow Cooling System

Hi Guys,

A quick question regarding coolant lines on my crossflow.
I currently have a header tank in the system.

This feeds to the lower pipe from the engine to the rad, and the top rad pipe to the top inlet on the engine.

I have just flushed the coolant and am replacing the rad switch, while it's empty, is it worth having a header tank? I only ask for the sake of having the engine bay a bit tidier as i've never been happy with how the lines run.

Would it be ok to just fill the system and leave a litre or so for expansion?

Regards,
Andy

Yeh i remember you saying you didn't have a header steve, do you just part fill from the top of the engine (thermo housing)?

Yes, i do, its the Fiesta theromstat housing and filler, all in one

This is the setup I use on my x-flow:

Dave Andrew's website (first bit regarding water)

Basically, any water that gets pushed out when the engine is hot gets pulled back in when it cools. I very rarely need to top-up.
