Hi folks,
My engine's idle is temporamental, but not regularly. Notably worse when it's hot and in stop-start traffic, it dips and occasionally
stalls. I'm not familiar with Ford engines so need some guidance please.
The vacuum-actuated valve (hose off) between injectors 3 and 4 - is that it? I took the 2 retaining bolts off but it wouldn't budge.
Thanks in advance!
Rob
Thats the fuel pressure regulator. Unlikely to be the issue. It's a tight fit on an O-ring so needs a fair pull/wiggle to get it out.
There should be a valve on the inlet manifold with a 2 pin connector, that allows a small amount of air to bypass the throttle butterfly to allow the
engine to idle.
I can't see from the picture if it is still present with your setup, but is normally underneath the throttle body and bolted down with 2 m6
bolts.
It should look like this.
A quick cleanout with carb cleaner should fix it.
