It would great if you could find out the part number.

LRS something but will confirm tomorrow.....
That would be great.
Thanks Matty
Try LRS 102 (M35G) Lucas....
If it is the standard Lucas bolt inertia mounting they came in 2 common sizes the smaller was used on smaller engines BMC A series Hillman Imp Ford
Anglia, Mk1 Cortina.. The larger was used on mid sized engines. Hillman Hunter & Avenger, BMC B series.
Ford switched to 3 bolt mounting on the Cortina about 1966 because the design on the 2 bolt mounting on the Ford gearbox didn't locate the
starter accurately enough to prevent jamming.

Ha ha, tell me about it and we finished up buggering about with 8, 9, 10 and even 11 toothed pinions to try to sort the problem, However the 2 bolt and 3 bolt will fit the same bell housing.....
Right, here we go. I have examined 2 starter motors, one 2 bolt and one 3 bolt, Both are M 35 G and the number on the box of the 2 bolt one is LRS 102. The spigots are the same size...I have tried both starter motors onto a bell housing and they both fit...............Makem sure that whatever you fit that the tooth are pointing the right way as a pre engaged will have the lead on the flywheel teeth on the other side....
