Were to buy a throttle cable for R! carbs onmy Indy
sonic - 8/5/16 at 05:41 PM

Hi Guys

Can any body tell me were to buy a throttle cable with the nipple already on the end to suit my R1 carbs and long enough to fit to my Indy throttle peddle please.
I only really need the inner wire as the outer is already fitted, I have cable and nipples which solder on but for the 2nd time in 2 weeks whilst out today the one I soldered on let go and I had to limp home on a high tick over. I thought I had done an over kill job on the last one to make it strong!

Thanks

I just use a screw on barrel nipple, never had an issue, might be worth checking your stop height on the pedal? Stretching the cable maybe?

Hello

How do you get the screw on type to fit in the groove on the carbs ?, is the screw on the end and there is enough clearance for it to actuate.

I'm still using a pushbike brake cable, been on for at least 8 years

Honda Civic throttle cable from the local scrap yard

It's like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/111460935156
Had to file it down a little but works fine. Did you check your pedal stop?

Hi, yes checked the back stop and its ok, are you using that nipple on bike carbs and it fits ok?

Not that exact one, will get a picture tomorrow for you.

I used a Venhill Universal Throttle Cable Kit 1.35 M Long.

It's pretty difficult to get a decent picture with the air box on sorry. Used same cable as above, but with that brass nipple, no issues yet, done 500ish miles. Initially ran with 1-2mm stretch.

Hi guys

Thank you for your responses and help

James - that's the kit I had and I found it a problem to crimp the nipple on so soldered it, it failed twice. could be my poor soldering though!

Phil - thanks for taking the time to photograph it, I went to a bike shop today and bought a 2m brake cable, the nipple was slightly bigger but managed to file it down so it fits ok. fingers crossed it has cured the problem.

thanks again
Mick
