Chargecooler source

For those of you who are boosted and don't have room for a chargecooler/IC, I've found a fairly useful item.
VAG part:
03F 145 749 B

They can be had for buttons on ebay (£30) and are a purpose made in-manifold (plenum) chargecooler core with a nice flat mating face built in.

I'm planning a mod to a tin top which will involve mounting a supercharger to a custom manifold and I needed a chargecooler to put between the ports and the SC exit, effectively forming a tightly packed chargecooler-plenum. From a fairly highly boosted OEM application, so while not massive, it is pre-designed for manifold use (pressure/vac swings) and it's not a cheapo "reverse intercooler" design as the cheap aftermarket ones often are.

Might be of use to some people. I'll update with dimensions when I've modeled it up in CAD.

Cheers
James

Interesting find.

The fabrication of a new plenum would be quite complex so I will be interested to see what you come up with.

My plan, should I choose to accept it, is an aluminium/carbon combination. I have CNC so can make the interfaces that way, it's the carbon side I'm going to find more challenging - 3D mold and vac bagging. I work with CFRP regularly, but in flat sheet, not prepreg.

Will CAD it up and display it for laughs - it's got to fit, with an Eaton M62, in where this inlet fits...
