Pinto fan belt?
nick205 - 5/4/05 at 07:25 AM

Can anyone recomend a suitable fan belt for a Pinto fitted with a Nippon Denso alternator?

The standard Pinto one is too long, by quite a bit.

TIA

You can measure it with string or something. The belt part numbers are often actually the length in mm

... it's hard to measure it right.

Just cut your current one down till it fits then measure it and order a new one.

Using string I had to return one's I'd bought 2/3 times until I got the right size!

Yep - they measure the diameter part-way up the side of the V-groove. I think it's half-way, but knowing engineers it's probably 63.78% up!

Ok maybe not string then

I wrapped masking tape around the outside of my pulleys and adjusted the size of the lower bracket until the length was 813mm which is about the most common size belt you can get.

I have a Kia Pride alternator which I 'think' is the same as the Nippondenso unit

Thanks for suggestions guys

I'll cut the original belt and get the length as suggested.

Cheers
