I was under the impression that all metros had A+ in them but I may be wrong, not a mini also but the maestro 1300 had a n/a A+

A Plus was introduced across the Mini range as the same time as it was put in tha Allegro II.
It was also used in the Masetro/Montego 1300 but although fwd that was not a mini style gears in sump engine it was closer to the RWD A Plus fitted to the very late Marina and Ital.

A plus turbo was ony used in the MG Metro Turbo

oooh, i'd forgotten about those ..... had a chance of getting my hands on one a few years ago ....... couldn't afford it, was mint and they wanted something like 10k for it.

hmmmm...........

...........they sound more fun than they are though. I'd go for a tuned n/a engine over the turbo in a mini (particularly if keeping the std gearbox!!)

The A+ engine was introduced when the metro came out and was used in all a-series engined metros. At about the same time it was introduced into the mini so most minis after X/Y reg should be A+ engined.

As far as I remember it has a stronger block, and one difference which is visible is that there is no bypass hose between the head and the water pump.
