Bike TB's to 2ltr zetec
jamesg20 - 3/9/05 at 01:17 PM

hi all,
Can someone who has successfully installed and running bike tb's on a zetec let me knoe what i need? Does it work, any pitfalls?

So far i recon i need pre 99 (to avoid later ecu controlled butterfly) gsxr600 or 750 tb's??
ford focus st170 inlet manifold and mounting rubbers or atliss manifold... Wjats the deal with respacing the bodies ie fuel rail and linkages?
What are you using for filters etc?
anyone covered this on a webiste or care to enlighten me, what ecu's are you all running with this - megasquirt / dta/ something else?

Anyone car to comment how much it all costs (not up to fabricating my own ali manifolds etc so would be looking to buy all bits.

Cheers
James

You should talk to stevebubs, he should be able to answer your questions. And have a look at his site http://www.bubs.net/Fury/throttlebodies/

You can also search on "GSXR", there have been many topics about bike tb's.

Respaced Gixxer 750 bodies with the head mounting flanges will bolt straight onto a DCOE manifold.

If you don't get the flanges with the bodies, it may be cheaper (and easier) to buy a custom manifold (Ben got his done at Concept Racing).

If you're respacing the bodies, buy a jenvey fuel rail (TBR22 IIRC) and fit std car injectors. I used purple vectra GSi injectors on mine - seem to be good for a std 2.0 zetec. As to the linkage, I just spot welded a plate onto the linkaget of each body.

All-in, you should be able to get the bodies mounted up on on the engine for around £300

For filters and ram pipes, I got some 48mm pipes from Merlin and get them mounted up using fuel filler hose and jubilee clips. Filters are std socks

ECU - I used an Emerald as I already had one on my xflow and it was pretty cheap to upgrade.

When work gets quieter, I'll get it all written down properly and uploaded to a website.

PS Where are you?

BTW Yes - they do work. Very effectively.

ok, thanks for the replies, looks like things are moving on with this, i've already got a dcoe manifold, which model of 750 do i want the bodies from, ie gsxr750w, 750Y, 750WP? I aasume K1, but some breakers don't seem to know what i'm talking about...
Also what are the head flanges called i need? the bodies i have found if they are the correct one don't have them...

Many thanks
