I checked the plugs on the car tonight and found that number 4 was black from running too rich. I have recently fitted the above carbs to my 2.0L
zetec with a Bogg Bros manifold. After speaking to Steve at Bogg Bros, I need to check the fuel pressure and that the needle in the carb that is
running rich is seating properly.
Does anyone have a service guide they could email me or have any ideas where best to start. I suspect there may be a piece of dirt stopping the needle
seating, but I don't want to take the carb to bits without a manual to help put it back together again !
thanks
I got the scanned to cdrom type manual from ebay for a quid...
But other than that I cant help much sos
ps
What fuel pump are you using ?
And can I ask where did you get your exhaust manifold please
I'm using a the facet pump I had running the webers. There is a filter king regulato rkeeping the pressure down (it's adjusted right down
too). I have downloaded a CBR400 service manual the carbs look to be pretty much the same (but obviously smaller), so I do have some pictures etc to
go on. I have a blackbird manual as a pdf but it's a 99 on one so only details FI.
I think I am going to check the choke linkage as well could be the issue.
Likewise I have the early and later Fireblade manuals, your welcome to.
Same but different I guess.

I have been doing some research and have found that he blackbird carbs are normally gravity fed when fitted to the bike. As such they only require 1/2psi of presure to keep them happy. I have a facet blue top capable of 2.5 - 3.0 psi and a malpassi filter king regulator that will regulate from 1psi to 10psi. I think I am going to try turning the pressure right down on the regulator. The question is what effect will this have (if any) on the pump. What I mean is will strangling the pump damage it in any way ? The other option would be to change the pump for one from a ? carb'd CBR600, R1 or other bike, I'm open to suggestions. F3 or F4 CBR600 has been hinted at as being suitable.
I'm using an R1 pump on my BlackBird carbs but haven't run them in anger yet, so can't really advise too much...
