Header Tank Location

Has anyone relocated the header tank to hang off the front of the engine

Is there any reason why this is a bad idea?

Vibration.. Doesnt it have to be highest point of the system?

Yep, as high as you can go. This is why they are usually put just infront of the scuttle.

High isn't really a problem with a zetec - there are mounting points at the front of the cam belt cover which puts the bottom of the tank above anything else.

Vibration - is this really a problem?

v6 Mk1 transits had it as standard mounted on a bracket off the thermostat housing.

Hows that for sad..................

What Ford for doing it?....

Or you, for knowing about it?

Me for knowing...

The engine sat above the rad so this was the highest most easy to access point.

Nice little oblong copper tank with proper expansion cap on it.

My header tank is situated under the nose cone near to the front of the engine. It is mounted on the chassis though so no problem with vibration.
