Kent RL21 cam any good for an injection setup?
Mark Allanson - 17/11/05 at 10:58 PM

Basically as the subject, will it be any good?, is a second hand cam c/w followers a good thing or a definite nono?

Answers on a postcard....

S/H cam and followers is fine provided it not obviously worn and the followers have been kept in the correct order, i.e. each cam lobe should be matched to it's original follower.

However, the RL21 is possibly a little too "hairy" to be used with the original flap type air flow meter which get quite upset with the strong pulses that are produced in the inlet manifold from long duration/high lift cams.

Bugger, it is so cheap as well!

best keep my eye open for a FR32 instead

Mark,

I fitted an FR34 to the pinto with the standard ECU. Felt a lot quicker.

On the other hand, how about joining the bandwaggon and going Megasquirt and doing away with the restrictive MAF?

Cheers,

Colin

I just have a standard cam with wear reduced lobes, so even a std replacement will probably feel faster, just thought I would upgrade at the same time. I have already drilled out my spray rail. Megasquirt, sounds very complicated to me

Unfortunately, he wants three times what the FL21 went for, I would have bought it to give it a try if a little cheaper, but at that price, it needs a little more weighing up
