Hi folks!!
I need a clutch friction plate to put in my Alfa/Ford thingy. It needs to be 228mm o/d with, I thought, a 23x1" center.
I have found (after spending time and money buying the wrong ones!) that a NHB 1361 plate is 229mm o/d (close enough!) but has a center of "23x25.4 shaft o/d". Also listed is a plate that has a center of 1" x 23, (o/d of 229mm) but the part is a different number!
I have also found out that this is the correct plate for a Scimitar.
Has anyone got a Type 9 sat handy to save me having to pull my engine/box out this afternoon so I can order the clutch plate. I just need to know that the splines are measured at the o/d (as opposed to the core).

Ive got an almost new clutch from an mt75 box you can have .

Its 1" 23 splines but only 220mm

My type 9 measures 25.4mm diameter (across the splines on the input shaft) and 15mm diameter where the shaft reduces to fit inside the spiggot bearing.

Just been out and mic'd up the input shaft on a type 9 5 speeder. OD of splines is 25.4 or 1", 23 splines.

A mate has found me a 229mm plate from a Scimitar but I need to get him to measure the raised portion to make sure it fits in my clutch cover. The 220mm is a bit wee but it will get the project moving!

Metric measurements only confuse things with clutches

Ideally you need a 9" clutch with 1"x23 splines

Ford V6 or some kind of Transit driven plate should fit the bill.



The 220mm should be fine dia wise clutch pressure plates are usualy designed to fit 2 dia of driven plate -- for example 8" and 8.5"

But beware the plate thicknes is critical FWD clutches often use low lift presure plates designed for thinner driven plates.

On the same theme.

The Galaxy plate I bought seems to fit, apparantly should not.

It is 228mm 23 spline, but 26mm not 25.4.

This is according to the catalogue.

When on me shaft (oh err missis) it seems to fit very well. About 4mm of play when wiggled on the edge of the plate.

Is it the wrong size or just another metric / imperial conversion error thing ?
