Hi folks,
I'm in the process of fitting a Caterham (k-series) bellhousing to a Ford T9 gearbox at the moment, I've noticed that the Caterham b/h makes no provision for sealing the selector shaft, where it pokes through the front of the gearbox casing.

I'm slightly concerned by this, as the Ford bellhousings do provide a seal at this point. It may be that very little oil manages to find it's way through here, and I'm worrying unnecessarily, but it'd good to hear that confirmed. Any experiences out there at all?

in my experience the type 9 box is just about impossible to make it completely oil tight!

Our 4AGE bellhousing does not seal it as such it just has a dent in the housing to cover it up.

Why does it have to stick out anyway it seams abit of a silly desgine

The gasket between the bellhousing and gearbox normally seals it. I forgot the gasket once and it peed oil out! You certainly need to seal it!

Cheers all, looks like I'll have to work out some method for sealing this. Probably serves me right for using crappy old C******* parts on a quality vehicle like a Locost.......
