
I've got a couple of weekends to spare while I wait for my engine loom to be modded so I thought I would turn my attention to the V6's
plumbing.
The EGR valve recirculates exhaust gases doesn't it? As I now have a custom built exhaust with only a lambda sensor fitted I don't think the
EGR is needed / useable. Can I just blank it off without harming anything?
While I'm at it, there is an awful lot of vacuum tubing & breathers running between rockers, air filter, anti-moose tube etc. I would like to
strip all the uneccessary stuff to tidy things up.
Can anyone help me out with a few pointers?
The tube running from the rocker cover to the air filter is to stop oil being belched into the atmospher and is then burnt off in the engine. The best
thing to do is to run these tubes (along with one from the sump area) to a catch tank, I've used a plastic drinks bottle on my Zetec but you can
get alloy tanks.

Ah I see, so I can just route everything that's a breather through a catch tank? There is a PCV hose which I would imagine I can just leave
connected to the inlet manifold.
Then I suppose it is a case of reducing the number of vacuum hoses to a minimum.
The PCV can go to the breather as well if you want to, as it will mean you are burning the oil vapour if there is the connection on the inlet
manifold.

My only problem now is the vacuum tubing.
I have got two vacuum take-offs on top of the intake plenum - one goes to the 'Electronic Vacuum Regulator' and the other used to go to the
brake servo. As I am not using a servo (just big feet
) I can blank this pipe off but what about the EVR? I am using an MBE ECU so I'm not
certain what it's function is.
*edit* The EVR regulates the vacuum to the EGR valve so I can probably blank this off too
