hi, i am looking for a starter motor to fit to the zetec i have just brought, i have found a fiesta xr2 cvh one that may fit, does anyone know if it will and if it will be powerful enough? or should i find a different one?
Think you will find a CVH starter won't fit a type 9 bolt pattern.

well it doesn't matter about the type 9 i am not using that gearbox i am putting the zetec in a saab 96 and retaining the original gearbox, it should bolt straight on like a type 9. hopefully!

Using Sierra 1.8 CVH starter on my zetec 1.8 flywheel with Type 9
so guess thats a none starter, what starter should i get? one from a rear wheel drive sierra? what other options are there? i guess i should wait until i can see how much space i have with the gearbox attached.
I've got the one off a DOHC Sierra...I'm using a MT75 'box.

If your using the 1800 Zetec flywheel and type nine box.
You can us 1800 CVH or Sierra DOHC starter.
The 96 was the Colonge V4 and at that time Saab bought electrics of Lucas and Bosch so I suspect the bolt pitch will be Bosch/Lucas/Ford pattern of
some sort.
Long time since I have been under the bonnet of one -- did the starter mount the conventional way round ?
well this is my first car, and thus the first one i have worked on, so i don;t know if it is backwards. however the starter motor is at the bottom of the engine, on the offside with the terminals facing the front of the car, is that backwards? it is a strange engine being a v4, do u think the saab gearbox will be able to bolt straight on? the v4 is a german ford, a cologne as u say.
