Help - Remote Oil Filter - Zetec
muzchap - 28/1/06 at 09:09 PM

Hi guys,

I've just tried fitting my 'tiny' champion oil filter - but it's still too big :-(

The steering column downlink still catches it on the way through.

I'll have a photo tomorrow.

Any ideas on either:

a) How to make a remote oil filter (from butchering scrapyard cars)

b) where I can get the bits reasonably priced

and

c) how badly will it affect my trackdays?

Cheers guys

Murray

Hi
Hopefully you have the U2Us I sent.

Just to add - take your pipe fittings into an engineering suppliers and they will be able to sell you 90 degree male to female adapters that give you further enhanced clearanced. That's how we did it on the Sylva as the remote take off we used had pipes which came straight out. Alternatively, and industrial hose manufacturer will be able to help you out.

Thanks guys - I'm still not sure which one to go for on that website - so might have to phone them!

Zilspeed - hmm that's a good idea, just get a bend plate made... so the oil filter sits on top - good idea

Cheers,

Murray

Think automotive in Isleworth middlesex sell oil remotes,i may have to go down down the same route when i change the pinto over.

To fit properly the engine really needs to go back in the chassis a few inches,i noticed MAC1 have made these changes to there chassis to good effect.

Your chassis/kit supplier should be the ones helping you as they took your cash,i would give them a call and see if they can help

I knew it would come to me eventually.

Pirtek will sort you out with hoses.

Thanks for the advice guys - gonna give them a ring now

Hmm about contacting the kit makers - I'd rather do it myself

Inside I'm a locoster - just my welding sucks on the outside

Cheers,
