XE engine to omega 'box question
chrsgrain - 3/2/06 at 09:08 PM

Hi all,

putting a C20XE with an omega gearbox - but doing this leaves a gap at the bottom of the engine exposing about 2 or 3 inches of clutch / flywheel. Should we make up a cover plate, or won't it be a problem?

Same thing with the zetec, You need to make a plate up.

no plate on mine, or on my grasser which gets immersed in mud regularly!

didn't vauxhall put the c20xe in the carlton? if so wouldn't this be a better choice in box?

for sva i believe you need a plate

AFAIK the carlton and omega boxes are the same????

Had another look, and a flat plate won't cover it, so I'd have to do some pretty tricky fabricating.... the SVA thing worries me a bit though, if I need to then I will - anyone got a definitive answer to that??

Thanks for the previous replies...

Chris

Don't know for sva but I am risking it!

If it's no go I'll knock up some sort of temporary plate to go over it!

a spinning flywheel under the car is no more dangerous than the spinning wheels of the car!
