Is the plate needed between the gearbox and engine?

If so has anyone got a template for zetec to type 9? Longshot i know.

standard ford bellhousing pattern so the type 9 will bolt straight up so would a 4 speed if desired

Sorry wasnt that clear. Theres that tin plate that goes between to cover the open gaps.

Yes it is needed it helps locate he starter.

CVH Sierra one "should" fit with minor adjustments ---- Pinto Sierra one needs big lumps cut out.

In a word Yes you do need the plate.
I used a standard pinto one and attacked it with a nibbler until it fitted.
