
Hi! I have done a search and i think i have found the problem, i just wanted to confirm a few things.
I think we have managed to flood and nacker the plugs as there is no spark now and there was before it fired up first time.
However i warmed the plugs with a heat
gun and ran the engine for about an hour or more while we tested the thermostat etc and there was no miss fire or anything, it ran fine. I came to
start it again a couple of days after and the plugs are wet with no spark!
What is the best way of starting up from cold? do you other guys use the choke to start from cold?
Also what is the prefered plug the standard copper core or the iridium ones?

I use the choke in this weather to warm her up
I have to use the choke in this weather, in the summer it doesn't need it but in the cold weather it will probably.
I just use standard plugs.
I tried mine without the choke a couple of weeks ago and it just turned over and didn't start which will tend to make the plugs wet and then
it's harder to start. I would suggest using a blow torch to clean the plugs again and then using the choke.
I actually removed the choke bar from the carbs but may replace it as it was a bit of a pain putting it on temporarily,

I connected my choke to the bonnet release on the sierra column using the original sierra bonnet release cable!
Will try with the blow torch!

I too wired up the bonnet release as the choke, but I found I never use it starting from very cold or otherwise. Don't give to much juice
either, they're very easy to flood, and I've never re-started her if I've flooded her without removing the spark plugs.
There is a bit of a knack to it, you'll find a method that works through trial and error.

What pump are you using? Hopefully you'll have seen all the posts and be using a bike one (carb type that is!!!). If you're using a car pump (e.g. Facet) it'll always be flooding.
I'm using a R1 pump off a carbed type.
It has been running fine until i flooded it!

mine's a bike pump from (i think) a kwak 750
IMHO I'd try a brand new set of plugs or at least do as shortie did and use a proper blow torch with blue flame to clean them up (a heat gun probably wont have any effect) as bike engines seem to be very fickle to good clean plugs, and the plugs seem to be a pain to get clean again once flooded and wet.
i had an problem with my injection engine..
and it also did flood! i warmed up the plugs but nothing helped, i let the engine "open" for 2 days....
PLugged in the plugs and it started on the first one.
Because of the small stroke i think that the bike engine cant recover that well from wet sparks.. (it doesn't move many air to clean /fapor the
spark..)
