4a-ge phase 3 - from which donor?

Hello there - I've read and searched a few old threads in SEARCH mode, but can't find any listing of which engine comes from which car

The phase 3 (140bhp?) IIRC seems to be the one to have (from this marque) but I can't seem to find from which models and years they were available?

Any pointers on this please - getting eyes like saucers with trying to check this on gooooooogle

Thanks Rob & Tony for those replies.

So, of all the toyota 1.616v - that is the engine to get.
Am I correct in thinking this?

With say Omex ECU, bike throttle bodies, stainless 421 exhaust - what kind of power would that produce?

Which are the preferred bike TB's - I seem to recall GSX 600 or 750 cropped up a few times in threads. Has anyone bought any of these recently - just wondered what the going rate was?

The 4age rev3 is 129bhp in the corolla and has the following good point.

It has the stronger 7 rib block, larger rod pins and piston spray bars.

It also has no TVIS, small port head and different cams.

With a cam upgrade on standard ECU you would get 150-160 but this is about it enless you want to go forced induction.

As regards your comment about 140BHP I think that was the stock power from the REV 1 4AGZE supercharger witht he REV 2 being 160.

If you upgrade the cams past about 260 degrees duration you will need to have an uprated ecu. It is possible to wring upwards of 200 bhp out of a 4age if your pockets are deep enough!! check out this link for loads of 4age tuning info:- http://www.billzilla.org/4agmods.htm

Oh and the small port phase three is definately the best base to start with, If you are looking at making silly power, 200bhp+ you will need the big port head to allow the engine to breathe properly.

Will have to keep my eyes peeled for one of these.
Have contacted a local factor to see how much it would cost for the parts to rebuild, shells rings etc. I recon at the age they would be 1989/91, that they could do with an overhall.
