Hi All,

I have the opertunity of purchasing a V8 engine that was lifted from a Shepra Van. The problem I am having is finding a listing of engine numbers that include the Vans so I can identify the exact age of the engine for SVA emissions testing.

Does anyone know where I can find this information?

I know that the Shepra van was produced with the V8 between 1987 - 1994 and that the engine number range is 25-26 G.

If I cannot determine the exact age of the engine is it work buying?

25/26 g = 1986
25/26 g-b = 1987-94

Just a quick update, in the end I didnt buy the engine as I couldn't get proof of the exact year of manufacture.

I have purchased a old Range Rover instead!!!

The Sherpa V8 is a Low Compression one.

Have a GOOD READ UP on the FAQ pages on RPI's site - VERY Useful info.
www.v8engines.com - Not the cheapest, but Chris Crane really knows his onions
LOTS of useful info.
V8's are NOT cheap to recondition.
Real Steel and V8.tuner.co.uk are good for prices. Paul at V8 Tuner was good for most things pricewise, and quick at getting them in the post.


If you are stripping a Range Rover just for the engine.

Advertise the rolling chassis in a Land Rover mag, it will get a decent price.
or break, and sell the bits, and get even more money.
