petrol tank baffles

My tank as well as the book tank have 2 baffles that are plates the sam shape as the ends but the corners cut off.

My question is, why do they need to be so tall?

surely 50 m high is enough to stop petrol sloshing away from the pick up?

Save some wieght too? (although the full length baffles will ad some rigidity but then they could have holes or slots cut in the top half to save wieght).

Just wondering if there is some other reason?

to slow weight transfer.

half a tank of fuel weighs quite a bit, especially in relation the the car when it is as light as a 7.

when it sloshes about it does nothing for handling!

blimey 50m high is a tall fuel tank, reckon that will tip your car over!!
