Fuel Pressure, VX injection

Anybody know what the std fuel pressure reg is set to on a cavalier 8v sri, and is it the same as the 16v fuel pressure?

I'm guessing so, but just wondered if anybody knew?

IIRC from my old SRi130 it's 2.5bar or a shade over 36psi.
Wouldn't have thought a 16v would need to be different.

Best way is to measure it -- istr its the same basic type as Rover use easy to fiddle for more pressure take it off use a couple of sockets and a vice to depress the top of the can a couple of mm

yup, that's the idea, penny pinching me! Just that aftermarket pressure regs were slated by my rolling road man, he reckons the only ones that hold pressure dead smooth are OE Bosch ones and Weber ones.

The cavvy 8v Bosch one is neat and will fit the job and I have one handy. I'm hoping to get the fuel pressure close to what I run on my other engine so I don't have too much peeing about to do with the mapping.

I've just got an Astra GTE pres reg for my TB conversion, did some googling using the part number last week and confirmed it was a 2.5bar reg, and I believe it's the same as the Cav one. P/N on mine is 280 160 202.

I may need to up it to 3bar or so (not exactly sure what my injectors flow at the moment) so will be interested to hear the outcome... Had heard about the squash it in a vice trick before...

Cheers,
Neil

C20XE 16v in an astra is 3bar with the vacume pipe disconnected ie the basic regulaor pressure but with a worn spring and the vacume pipe on at idle it drops down.

NS Dev,

Who's your rolling road man?

Ta,
Chris

One of two, the one who passed comment is Steve Walford, SW Motorsport in birmingham. I know him as I race with him in grasstrack.

My "local" one is John Wilcox in hinckley.

That depends on the injectors fitted. The earlier engines had cream coloured injectors running at 2.5 bar, the later ones blue injectors at 3 bar
