Are talking older as in silver top and newer as in Black top?

If so i have been told they arent interchangable.

The cam belt takes a different route.

pray tell me more. both the cylinder head will have cam gears at the front and probalbyu in the same place so even if the belt is routed differently below, surely that should not affect cam gear operations? * (unless they spin in differnt directions... but that would be strange thing to do...)

*(what I mean, without a picture is t he belt runs up to the first cam gear over the top to the other gear and then back down)

Why bother? Spend the money on some 285 cams and you will see another 20bhp, suspect head change will give very little improvment.
