Removing Blade Carbs.
asn163 - 11/4/06 at 07:47 PM

Hi, we have been trying to fire up our carbed blade engine but have had a few problems. One of these is that we have fuel coming out of the carb breather pipe suggesteing that at least one of the carbs float valves is not sealing. I want to get the carbs off the engine to clean them out, but I am having difficulty removing them.

I have loosened off the clamp rings, but there is still very little movement. How much force can I apply to get the carbs off the head? Anyone got any tips?

Thanks,

Simon

as long as the clamps are loose, then they will just pull out, it requires a fair bit of force as the rubbers are ribbed!
cheers

Ribbed rubbers?

They are pretty hard to get off, take it slowly and work them back and forward, it takes quite a bit of force but in the end it will come off

Rich.

What pump are you using? Is it an injected pump with a regulator or a carb pump?

I believe that it is a pump for carbs. rather than injection, bought it as such from Stuart-Taylor. It's a mistsubishi pump, not sure of part number.

I had the same issue. After everything was loosened and I wrestled around with the carbs a bit, I got pissed and just yanked them right off. Once off, I had the inverse issue and could not get them back on until I wiped a bit of olive oil around the rubber bit.

Hot water will temporarily soften the rubber to aid removal and re-fitting.
