Tube to connect radiator hose.
Chippy - 14/4/06 at 07:37 PM

Hi All, does anyone know where I might get a couple of lengths of alloy or copper tube to join up my rad hoses, I only need one piece at 7", and three at 3". Tried round here but with no luck, (local plumber only had plastic,I ask yer). Should have said o/d of 11/4", or 13/8" would be fine. Any help greatly apreciated. Regards Chippy.

give mark or colin a ring at mac#1 will make to your length and ridge the ends to stop the hoses comeing off

Hi Bigrich, you don't happen to have a phone number by any chance, can't find any reference to Mac#1. Thanks Chippy
PS the link on this forum doesn't

Also, is 38mm too large?

I bought some of that, bargain of the century imho

Hi, already used 11/2", (38mm), tube and as it's so tight in the rubber can't form a ridge to get the hose clips to stay on, already blown out £17 of antifreeze. Dohhhh.
I think I will give Mac 1 a ring after the holiday, and see what they can offer.

Have you tried b&q and the likes? I got some chromed copper pipe from there for my rad extensions on a mini. Didn't cost much and plentiful supply. Also lookis nice and shiny

jeez how much pressure!!!

Shouldn't blow off even without a retaining ridge. Not got them on any of the hoses on my grasser (or any other car that I have built in the past for that matter) and never blown one off, even with a high pressure cap!

Sainsbury Homebase have steel table legs, 32mm by 600mm for four quid. Could weld a bead round it. (I was looking for 35mm today!!)
I have seen 30mm in B&.Q

Try some 32mm copper , cut a solder thru joint in half and solder over each end of pipe and you have ridge to stop hose falling off, works on my race car!

They seem to have some cheap lengths.

Pity the 19mm alloy is too small and the 1 1/2 stainless is too large!

I'm sure they'll have the size you need
