Been struggling with some 5/8 pipe and steel/ally 'push fit' mocal fittings. What's the knack to assembling these things?
I've already messed up two short lengths and ended up cutting them back off the respective fittings as I just can't get the hose over the 3
ribs on the ends of the fittings. first time was done dry, second time i heated the hose in some boiling water to try and soften it up but still no
cigar, whats the best thing to use for a lubricant on the fitting ends?
cheers,
Ned.
Any piccies? I have only ever seen the two piece screw-together hoses or the crimped (swaged) one.
these are the babies:

I would give Vaseline a try, washing up liquid may also work but it can have detrimental effects on some synthetics.
Mick
I was gonna say try vaseline aswell.
has worked for me before on the Golf!
Cheers,
James
managed to get them on last night on my second (4th in total) attempt. Hoses in pan of boiling water, welding gaultlets and some gear oil on the
fitting ends.
i've not fitted any hose clamps as there's none pictured and as i couldn't physically pull them off and had to cut the hose when i got
it wrong i can't see them coming apart. must be the way the ends are designed so they are a bu**er to get on and never come off without
destroying the hose!
cheers all,
Ned.

I've never had problems with these although mine were slightly different.
