Oil connections for XE engine
chrsgrain - 29/4/06 at 12:07 PM

Hi all,

I'm off to Stoneleigh tomorrow and want to get a capillary tube to connect the oil pressure guage up. Does anyone know what size / type of thread is on the back of the standard XE oil pump for me to buy a connector of the right size?

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris, I'm told the thread size is M14 x 1.5 , Europa sell various adaptors and will be at the show , cost is about £3 or so, - I'm after one for mine too!!
cheers ,

just to confirm the bit i bought fits, so its 1/4"npt. i got an adapter from the merlinmotorsport stand at stoneleigh to 1/8"npt for the hose to remote mount my sender. thinkauto etc could also supply, think it was about £3 or so +vat on the stand.

Ned , you got me worried now!!
I ordered one from Europa whilst I was at the show,
my oil pressure sender was also from ETB, it was listed on the receipt as - 0-6 bar 1/8"NPTF ,
page no- 68 europa catalogue ref no- LMA065 £4,1/8" NPTfemale to M14 x 1.5male,
Hope it fits when it arrives!!,
let me know how you get on!
Greg

to doule confirm my 1/8"npt female to 1/4"npt male adapter fits the back of my oil pump housing for the sender take off.

It is a standard housing off a donor engine with a steel pump gear fitted.

I think etb and hence those they supply have it listed wrong myself. Either that or there is a cut off date when they went metric on those fittings.

Ned.

ps the m14 was close and i tried it a few times but its too big - needs the taper to get the thread going - the thread itself is very close but the npt one is actually slightly finer. it was hard to tell even with them side by side.
