XE rocker cover modification.

I've seen a modification somewhere to stop the oil blowing problem on the 20xe when it is turned round north/south and has webers fitted. It involves drilling something, any XE users help here please?

Are you fitting an XE now then Pete?

There was a fairly long thread about this previously and some people got quite heated about the need for the modification....

Out of interest, the guys at Dax have been running an XE demonstrator for over a year now and not treating it with kid gloves (track days and white knuckle demonstrations included) without any form of modification at all..... and no problems...

Chris

PS I'm still undecided about doing it myself!

I am doing it on the 7, but never have on the engine that's in the grasser now, and that has been mounted transverse and longitudinal in 4 cars now with no problems (original Cav GSI, Manta GTE, Peugeot 205 rwd, grasser)

No it's my mate with a Mac#1. It's done it ever since finishing it, he has to empty the catch tank a lot and I remembered something about it from the distant past but couldn't find it. I'll send him the link thanks Ned, have any of you done it and does it improve it drastically? edit:-I was too slow there

If it aint broke, don't fix it. If you don't have any problems with oil being thrown out at high revs, don't bother with the mod. I did sufer with this problem, which meant I couldn't fill the engine above the minimum mark. Not good for track days. I did the mod, and it is a vast improvement.
