Type 9 clutch cable- what length?
James - 12/5/06 at 05:03 PM

My clutch is incredibly stiff to use and wonder if a tight radius caused by a too short cable is causing it?

Mine is about a metre long. It's from a 3.0 capri IIRC.

Is this an average length cable? I could go back to the longer Sierra cable... but only if I change the pedal mount!

Cheers,
James

P.S. Pedal ration is about 4.5:1

my cable was stiff to use, but then i realised i need to clean up the mateing (?)faces of cable runs, this and starting the engine has made it a lot easier to push the pedal down, I think my cable is about 1m as well, I also have a smaller one but this was near imposible to use

Mine is less than i metre i think and its fine. Could it be your pedal ratio making it harder to press??

I forced teflon grease down the entire cable inner, much smoother now. I have heard that other people have used transmission oil. Just hang the cable up secure a funnel on the top and let the oil work it's way down the cable. Just make sure to put a container underneath or your garage will smell like cat pee for weeks !
