there is loads of 1.8's on ebay going for sale and not a lot of 2ltrs, is it worth while waiting to find a good late 2ltr one or can the 1.8 be
increased to 2ltr, is there anything else different between the two engines or is the 2ltr just a stroked and over bored 1.8? thanks in advance to
anyone that knows!
just to add i did do a search on here 1st and found the similar post from last week, but what i really want to know is the difference in internals of
a late 1800 to a late 2000, and if its easily poss to upgrade a 1800-2000?

1.8 are a lot cheaper ,and there is plenty out there ,2 litre has much more torque which i suppose is what everyone's after..

1800's are cheaper to get running in the rear wheel drive set-up.
what mods are required to get the 1.8 or 2ltr engine in? ie sump mod, mounts alternator position etc? thanks.
To mount the 2.0 you need the 1.8 water pump (goes the opposite way) and the 1.8 flywheel. The 2.0 flywheel is too big for the T9 bellhousing.
Then a CVH 1.8 Sierra starter, 1.8 Zetec clutch cover, 1.8CVH plate and 2.0 Pinto release bearing. Search for the threads and you will find all the
part numbers.
If you use the 2.0 you will need all the 1.8 parts above. If you use the 1.8 they come free with the engine and with 2.0 cams in the 1.8 you have an
instant 130bhp. Put bike carbs on and find 155bhp.
I'm going 1.8 after finding all this out as it looks a cheaper, easier install than using a 2.0.
Also the 1.8 out of the Escort has a shorter sump.
