I was thinking of fitting the oil cooler, to the side panel of the car(same placing,but opposite side to where the exhaust exits the body),with a grill fitted, and a couple of small electric fans to pul air through.

anyone see any problems with this???.

No problems locating here, but they normally go before the radiator don't they?

on the bike, its normally below the radiator so wont fit there on the car.

just thought it might be better away from the heat of the radiator.

I strongly suspect that a couple of small electrical fans won't produce anywhere enough airflow to cool the oil, for example the amount of air that a large water radiator fan provides becomes largely insignificant once the car is moving even at fairly modest speeds, so it shows how much air you need to flow to give significant cooling.

Most race / track cars just mount it immediately in front or behind the radiator, as long as there's no gap in between the two, the air will flow through both happily enough and keep both sufficiently cooled.

you original idea is sound if you have ducting to pick up air from the front of the car and t hen channel it to the cooler - more complicated than puttoimng it at the front.

I fitted a cooler that is between the radiator and the pedal box - obviously low down so there is some air flow but not as much as there would be if it were in its proper place infront of the rad - I am not expecting huge cooling but the extra oil capacity is a good thing to have. (I can always reposition it).
