Bogg Bros - R1 Carbs - Questions I should ask
andyace - 1/7/06 at 11:18 PM

Hi all,

Just about to contact Bogg Bros re ordering some R1 carbs + Manifold for a 2.0 Pinto, I understand they do the lot for £300.

Is there anything I should be asking them or they are likely to be asking me?

From day one the engine will be a stock 2.0 pinto, soon after it will acquire a new FR cam and maybe some head work. One day even going up to a 2.1

Can they jet it to suit all of the above or will it need rejetting/tuning at each stage. I am guessing the answer is yes.

I will be using a megajolt system, Do I need to get anything extra for the TPS or there enough on the R1 carbs to suit?

Also what fuel pump/regulator should I be using with these?

Also while I have a post and am asking lots of questions, what size fuel line should I be using, I will be using a solid run for the main runs?

Thanks in advance, Andy

Yeh, why does it cost so much.

Because they run a business with overheads and have staff who need to earn a decent wage to feed their families.

And you are paying, quite rightly, for the convenience of the whole package arriveing pre assembled so you can fit them in less than an hour!!
Just fitted a set of these to our racing avon, also using megajolt, though on a crossflow. The TPS that comes on the carbs works fine. Steven at Bogg Bros was very helpful and just needed a rough idea of the spec to jet them so that the car would run, but he was honest enough to admit that they are only rough setting and a rolling road session will be needed to get the most out of them. We use da facet red top pump with a pre filter between it and the tank. A filter king regulator/filterwas fitted just before the carbs. We used braided hose all throug but for SVA i belive you need to be able to prove its suitability, there have been a few threads on the subject recently such as:

Dont get confused about the connections!! they seem to have loads left open! Check out:

For pics of what goes where.
Hope that helps

They will ask you all the questions.
I've ordered the full monty for just over £400 (was feeling flush). Ive got the bike pump to go with the carbs so dont need regulator cos its the interupter type so wont flood them.
The only down side is a four week waiting list
