I have a 1600 ford sportKA with a 1600 zetec in it.... Some days it goes like stink and others it feels like it is lacking in power....

The engine redlines at 7000 RPM (I have never taken it that far!).....but at 5500 the engine kinda hits a wall before it continues revving higher...its just a sudden bump of power loss, but its really weird....

I cant work out if the lack of power thing is just down to my mood...but the "wall" at 5500RPM is deffinately there...

Im suspecting that the ECU is getting its pants in a twist about something....anyone have any ideas or is it just a normal zetec?

Another issue is that, at idle or low revs below about 2000RPM, the engine purrs but then every few seconds (iregular intervals) it kinda shudders like its misfiring, its not a violent shudder, but you can notice it in the random idling...

Anyone have any ideas?

Is your air filter clogged up?

I had a similar fault with my zetec-s. Ford updated the ecu and it was fine after.

Have u got a cone filter one it or standard??

The engine is standard with the stock air filter which I checked and cleaned....

Last night I went out and tested it....Pulling away from a junction I was only just keeping up with a 1400 metro which is also standard and totaly abused...there has to be something wrong if I cant kick his ass!

Ive got a sport Ka 1600 (duratec) for my lass a few weeks back and it pulls like fook all the way up to 7000rpm and the engine sounds pretty throaty standard!
