hi all

wondering if anyone can tell me how to ID the D Ratio from the sierra VIN plate etc...

i know its there somewhere but cant remeber...???

I'm pretty sure D = 3.92:1

Might be worth doing a search or trying the robin hood site as they did have a list.

Sorry didnt read the thread proprerly,if you cant see it on the plate is there a tab bolted onto the diff back cover ?

Evidently the letter D should be stamped in box number 10 on the VIN plate, so i have just been told

You can't rely on the Vin plate.
Models should have a certain diff, however ford seemed to run low at certain times and chuck any old diff in them.
I got a 3.14 diff from a 1600 petrol that the vin plate said had a 3.62
The only reliable way to find the diff is either the tag on the back or by whipping the cover off as it's written on the crown wheel

Tell us what engine, 13" w/185-60x13: R1=3.14 or 3.38, CBR1000F (not RR)=3.14.

Depends which engine.
If it's an R1 then you really want a 3.38 as the 3.14 is too low a ratio, it's more suited for 'busa engined cars
