When I asked this question I was told the five bolts between the block and gear box where fine on ther own
In fact I have a lowered sump and the holes have been removed. I did the same on the bell housing to get extre ground clearance.

The five bolts
wasa is yours a 1.8 or 2.0l black or silver top?
also is there a correct sump or is this just your way round it.
i did away with the 2 lower holes on my other engine after lowering the sump but this time i thought all of them might be a bit much.
also is yours on the road and tested with the few bolts
Not on the road for a good bit yet. Nearly got it to a rolling chassis.
Its a 2L silvertop. but that shouldnt make any differance as the bolts should be in the same place. If you talk to Dunnell or Scholar engines I think
they said thats just the way it is.
The sump is a Scholar unit and wont fit the black top.
The only firm I can think of with a sump that uses the bolt holes is from Raceline and they do one for both engines. NOT CHEAP.
Don't worry about the sump bolts, just use the block bolts as suggested. RWD Fords have used just the block bolts forever and a day without trouble, the extra holes where for either the starter or holding on the tinplate cover and are not structural.
My Type 9 has only been attached to the block for a good 2000 miles now....don't worry about the sump bolts.
BTW - if you want to chop the sump then there's photos of my (not pretty) home job here...
