Hi ya , can anyone confirm that a 711m engine in a 1600 or a 1300
Many thanks
davrus
ford did both in 711 block
yes the 711 could be either. If you have a particular block in mind then check the casting marks. If it says 711M-6015-AA its a 1300 or possibly even
an 1100. The 1600 has 711M-6015-BA on it.

i thought the man who told me 711m was only a 1.6 was full of s**t
711M in my garage is definitely a 1300 block.
As mentioned - check the castings...

I just bought a 711M 1600 engine and a set of +90 pistons to take it up to 1690. However, when I stripped the engine I was somewhat dissapointed to
find it's had liners put in so can't re-bore it. Slightly odd as pistons and bearings are standard size and engine looks like a low mileage
lump.
Did Ford ever line blocks to salvage porous castings at the factory?
Yes they did sometimes , I came across a few when working for a company that reconditioned engines. The worst thing they did though was to bore main
bearing caps over size to salvage badly machined blocks , many people have been caught out by that and the over size mains are more expensive than
standard ones.
