Not sure if locking it soild is a good idea, as I think the coupling never fully engages. So direct coupling will mean the fan is rotating at engine RPM, you may find the blades fly off..

Only a guess others may have a better idea..

My Pinto engine didnt have a viscous fan, i only have an electric fan on the radiator itself. Is this an option? The brackets are a pain to make and will mean a few hours work but might get you away - could be ran from a dash switch until you get a thermostatic switch rigged up later.

Think I've still got my old viscous unit & fan up at garage. It could be prised out of my possession. Where are you ?.
