IDEAL RADIATOR???????
marcjagman - 4/8/06 at 01:45 PM

Just thought I would mention what could be an ideal rad. The old shape Fiat Uno, I bought a new/rfurb one from e-bay which was £23 delivered, not bad I thought, but here is the interesting bit, not quite as tall or wide as a Micra but is twice as thick, the bottom hose is easier to get on and it even came with a shiny new rad cap. Not bad I think.

Could you measure the size for me? Wondering if it might be more efficent than the polo one?

Cheers

Dan

Er... no... it didn't work!

marcjagman - 4/8/06 at 02:56 PM

It's in my photo archive as Uno radiator anyway.

Looks OK but bear in mind its only meant for cooling a farty 900 cc engine.Might be good on a BEC for an oil cooled engine though.
Cheers,
Bob

True, but so is a micra and a polo rad, this holds more water and appears to have more and better cooling fins.

But we know the Polo rad will cool a V8

it is not that easy I'm afraid and I don't have the right answers but bear in mind that more finds, closer spaced and deepr radiator will be mnore restrictive to air flow so may not be better after all.

somethimes you are better off with less fins, say going offroad since if you go through mud, the radiator won't get blocked.

Let us know how you get on - or not - a lot of this is trial by error.

Generally one can assume the major manufactureres have a vague inkling as far as cooling goes so buying a radiator for a much larger capacity engine is a safer bet

Always good to hear more options on here!

I'm sticking with the Polo one as we know it works and it fits a treat even under the smallest nosecone (stuart taylor one) but worth bearing the panda one in mind in the future.

Thanks for the sizes. Let us know how you get on..
