Do the arrows on the top of the pistons face towards the flywheel or the front of the engine , and which way round do the con rods go? , got myself
into a right puddle - fitting the oversize pistons to rods today, dont want to cock it up!!
cheers,
Greg
I don't know the answer, but I do know that it could be very important that you get it right! Keep looking till you get the answer.
Cheers

Ned can probably help you on this - I think he's built a couple of XE engines up.
Yep deffo arrow to the front of the engine, couldn't remember which side the rod lugs went!
I could tell on my pistons because the of the size of the valve pockets.
With the rods just make sure the lugs on the bearings line up and bear in mind the direction of thrust on the bearings and decide whether or not you
want to use the oil spray holes under the crown of the piston. my steel rods don't have them and i know some people build race engines where
regulation stipulate standard rods with the bearings fitted to block the holes to raise the oil pressure and reduce drag as bore wear is pretty
insignificant on a low milage engine.
Ned.
Cheers everyone,
just fitted them
on with the oil pump and sump next!!
