Any advice on setting the tappet pre load on a 3.5 RV8...
I have a Huricane cam and Rhodes lifters...
Just refitted the rocker shafts and have a set of shims that came with the new push rods to go under the rocker mounts.
How important is it ?
can I just approximate ( use the small shim and hope? )
Paul...
quite important really not dificult to do properly.
thise site shows you how to
linky :- pre-load from rpi
£20 for a set of digital verniers from Maplin and a couple of hours and the job is done once.
In my opinion its worth doing the job properly as it will help to stop those expensive rhodes lifters an cam wearing out

I just bashed a bit of fencing wire at the end until I had a pair of Max / Min Feeler gauges of the right size.
Basically simle job, tedious, but quite necessary. I have two noisy tappets one on each side, and will have to level up the valves.
Before you start, check ALL the tops of the valve Stems are the same height, or you will tear your hair out. Get these the same height before you do
anything else, It makes life a lot easier. Or if they are uneven, then the overall gap is very minimal.
