Which bike carbs have a TPS?
whitestu - 31/8/06 at 06:37 PM

My medium term plan once the Indy is SVAd with the CVH engine is a 1.8 Zetec with bike carbs and megajolt.

Which bike carbs would be most suited to this application?

I'll need a TPS for the megajolt so might as well get bike carbs with one on already.

Cheers

Stu

Later model ZX6 and ZX9 do. Plus others to follow.

ZX6 carbs definitely have a throttle pot.

ZZR1200 keihin's do, TPS on right hand end. 48mm bore as well!

Blade 919 ones do too (guessing same carbs as the Bird).

almost - blade ones are 38 or 40mm bird ones are 42mm, otherwise (jets etc aside)identical.

But then I'm just nit picking

Now where can i get a replacement TPS from to fit one of these without spending a fortune?

Honda recon'd that you had to buy the whole assembly at x hundred quid when i last asked

why go through the effort of changing engines just fit bike carbs to your cvh? surrey dave has done it and i am in the process of doing it now i am using zx9 kawasaki carbs and they also have a tps at the end.

Because the Zetec is a better engine.

then why not fit one in the first place?
and as for being a better engine ,yes but it depends what you are going to use the car for to fit a zetec dont forget he will need engine mounts, exhaust man, plus a list of small jobs my 1.8 runs with a 1.6 head and different pistons plus a few other mods all of which could be done a lot cheaper than an engine change and will produce a nice torquey motor with decent hp,the cvh gets a lot of bad press some of it is justified be we ran an heavly modded xr3i + xr2i in 750 mc hot hatches and when we worked right tuning route the engine was v powerfull and very reliable.

will step of soap box now.

another take on this one, why fit the carbs????????????????????????????

Surely if you are buying megajolt and bike carbs, it will cost almost exactly the same to fit bike throttle bodies and megasquirt?????????????????

Fitting mapped ignition without mapped injection when there are no rules to comply with doesn't make sense to me when the cost difference is naff all, especially if you can find somebody with a map that is close to right, which you will for a zetec on megasquirt!
