Fuel injector bits...

Hi there...

Anyone know if the plastic cap thingys on fuel injector tips are needed? I mean do they affect the spray pattern somehow? Only i have two sets of cossie yellow injectors (from which i need 6 for my v6), four have the cap and four dont.

Can i lose the lot of them or do i need to get some for the missing ones? Any idea where one would get them from?

I also will need new rubber cushions and o rings. Is there a supplier for these or are they main dealer? I guess for o-rings any will do that are the right size, or are they a specific fuel resistant grade of rubber?

Cheers for any help...

Liam

Caps? New injectors often have plastic caps on to protect the nozzle in transit.

Have u got a piccie?

The plastic cap sits against the seal in the manifold as far as i know, and probably is also intended to protect the tip from damage when removing or fitting the injector.Im sure you could find some other injectors that have the same tip cover on them and swap them over.

As the cossie yellows have a single pintle that sticks out into the cap hole I think they must be important in shaping the spray pattern.

my injectors from the states had a broken one, took it off and swapped it with some old injectors I had from a different engine. The plastic cap is I believe the pintle cap, used to protect the pintle but afaik doesn't affect the spray pattern.
