Friend at work is converting from an earlier (maybe silvertop?) zetec to a late blacktop. His donor engine has power steering pump on the auxilary
belt.
I've read through this thread:
http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=43865
And gather that the escort water pump isn't compatible with the blacktop. He's rung round a few places for an idler pulley/bracket to
replace the pa pump pulley and the only place he's found is raceline who want £75 for one. Is there anywhere else that can supply this part or is
there a workaround with a standard ford part?
He's tried dunnells, mountune, raceline, burtons and possibly shawspeed and quantum.
Advice/help appreciated.
cheers,
Ned.
Don't you have to run the waterpump off the back of the belt on the blacktop?? Not a perfect solution! Not owning a zetec I'm not sure exactly what your asking Ned but maybe thats help answer the question! Oli.
I *think this is a standard blacktop arrangement:

and I *think this is a raceline version:

Oh so he's trying to get rid of that pulley by the alternator?? Hmmm....clearly I'm not the person to be trying to help! Good luck! Oli.
Yep - the second one is the Raceline version (by the look of it).
That's the system that I have (running the pump off the back of the belt). It works well and is reliable, but is expensive. To my mind it was
worth the money to know that it will last.
If you quote the forum to Chris or Peter at Raceline, or mention my name he will probably give a 5-10% discount.
