Hi all,
I have read on here and Piston Heads that the Westfield Gear linkage is much better than the Tiger one. Having just bought my Tiger i am already
having allot of fun but understand that the Westie bit is a much improvement on slick gear changes.
How much should i be looking at paying for one and is the only place to get them direct from Westfield.
Cheers

Do you have access to a lathe? Or know someone who does? If so, have a look at the 5-speed gearshift extension on my website.
Click on the "WWW" link below, select "special tools..." from the menu, then click on the gearshift link.
No dimensions, but it's easy to work out with a bit of thought.
If you have the technology it's a very cheap solution, and gives a VERY direct link.

Thanks for this Dave, i do not have access to a lathe but my brother might have on in his workshop.
Cheers

will second that, David's solution (similar to my own) is a MUCH better way of doing the job than the westfield one.
While you're getting bits turned on the lathe, get one of David's rivnut tools made as well, they are excellent, much better then any
proprietary tool that I have used (and broken!)
Depends which Tiger gear linkage you have. The original was a couple of pieces of flat steel and the original gear lever cut off with a tab welded on.
The 'new' Tiger gear linkage is almost identical to the Westfield item so you would gain nothing through changing it.
The new Tiger linkage has been available for about 3 years now so it is well worth checking before parting with your cash.

.......but bear in mind that the westfield one is inferior to the "single fork" mechanism that Dave's and my linkages use (among others)
