As above and its a pinto injection head???

the ususal way is to measure the thickess from the head gasket face to the flat face where the rocker cover sits. Looking in Des Hammillls' SOHC tuning book it gives a thickness for the Cosworth head, but not for the Pinto head though - sorry I can't help more than that!

No doubt Ford had some tolerance variations whick makes measuring the head thickness a bit of a guestimate. I would guess the best way would be to measure the cc of the combustion chambers when valves are closed. As before im not sure what the std cc is tho'.


What are you planning to do? I had mine skimmed 40 thou to increase compression. DH stated it was safe to skim 60thou but i played safe on the assumption the head may have had 5 - 10 though refacing done before.

Tell me how thick it is and I'll tell you how much has been taken off.
